Most polls taken a few days before an election are on target.
No one can pay attention to polls taken a few months before an election. Many people are undecided at that point.

I don't pay much attention to polls, but exit polls are interesting. The Dems are known for skewing these results, in hopes of "getting out the vote." They become convinced that their exit polling data is correct. The problem is, it is not correct, and when they lose, they are dumbfounded. THEN they start crying about voting machines and swinging chads and junk.
The problem with the Dems is that they are not honest with themselves about why they lose. They never look at THEMSELVES to find out what they are doing wrong. They assume that they are wonderful, and that if they lose, the election was either stolen from them, or the electorate is just stupid.
When the Dems start looking within, and try to find out why they are not connecting with the American people, they may start winning again.

I would like to add my two cents to the answer that Jack gave. The democrats better politicians in the recent past have been the middle of the road on toward the right people. The present group of fascists have lost touch. When they more or less ousted Joe Lieberman, they proved this. Times in the past, the democrats had assorted views much like the republicans do now. That is why I think they will not do as well in the upcoming election as they think they will.

Pollsters tend to conduct their polls in the coastal area due to the population density. In recent years, the Heartland has been deciding elections because the people who reside there are sick and tired of the loony lefties getting away with selling the Country down the river. The Devastated look I saw on John Kerry after the last election was priceless. "Why the long face, John?"

When you steal the election it makes the polls appear goofy.

Not sure about polls, but what about the actual ballots? How is it that a president can receive more votes than there are people in one county? Hmmm..
