My cat has recently taken up the sport of peeing on my bed and in the process has ruined my expensive duvet. I phoned a dry cleaning place and they will take it, but I have to get the cat urine out first because it would contaminate everything. You can't put a down duvet in the washing machine (basically, can't get it wet), so does anyone know how to get rid of the cat pee without having to buy a new duvet?

Use Odoban .. a product you can ask your vet for if you can't find it in the stores, but stores like Walmart should carry it. It removes the odors of pet urine, and doesn't just mask the odor. Pets will keep going in the same places if the smell isn't removed, and Odoban does the job.
There are also made-for-kitty products you can safely spray on things that will deter cats from going in the area where it is sprayed. Ask your vet about it, or visit some cat sites, like Cat Fancy.com.

I recently got rid of a very expensive comforter, because our cat decided to urinate on it. It too, could not be washed. I tried everything. From the products that claim to remove cat urine, to home remedies. I was so frustrated, that I decided to hand wash the urine spot. I washed it 4 times, using different things, and the smell DID NOT come out. Cat urine is the worst. Good luck, but you may need to throw it away.

Cat pee is the worst. They make this stuff now I actually think it's called "urine gone" and it is supposed to clean pet urine. Other than that I don't know what to tell you. Why is your cat doing this? Is the cat mad at you for something or is it just getting old? Keep your little box really really clean and that might help with the actual problem.
Good Luck!

I've had cats my entire life and my experience is, nothing will get cat urine completely out. Especially, if the cats of a urinary trac infection where the urine is much more potent. Cats do not pee for no reason....something must be wrong with him.

Most pet stores carry products designed for removing pet stains and odor. I would suggest using one of those. You can spray just enough to get the smell out enough to take it to the dry cleaners without soaking it and damaging the down.

I don`t know what dry cleaner told you that but stains and odours can`t be transferred in the cleaning process. Find a better dry cleaner and there should be no problem.
