Guam is in the Western Pacific Ocean. It is far to the west of Hawaii, and a little south. It is straight to the east of the central Philippines.
Guam is American territory, and since it is across the International Date line, it is usually tomorow there. When I flew into Agana, the main city on Guam, in the 70's, the signs said "Welcome to Guam, where America's Day begins!"
On an East-West line, Hawaii is about halfway between the US and Guam. You should go to Guam, or meet your friend in Hawaii for a vacation.
On a North-South line, Guam is also about halfway between Japan and New Guinea.
Guam is not between Japan and Hawaii, it is well south of that line. Between Japan and Hawaii is Midway Island!

lmao That's what on my first trip there.
Find Hawaii and Japan its about mid way between the two a bit south.
Hope your friend likes snorkeling and scuba the waters is great, dolphins that come in to play, and reefs that people come from all over the world to see.
Its a small island it may not be on all maps

guam has been sent out for cleaning, as there are some "human stains" it will be a couple more day

go to google earth and type in "Guam' and then click fly to.it will take you there. if you don't have google earth, you can downloadit for free. it's a neat site.
