Michael Keaton was the only credible Batman. Val Kilmer did a good enough job, but I was too aware that it was "Val Kilmer". Im a huge Christian Bale fan, and I think he was the only thing that held the last film together, but the film totally sold out to become a blockbuster. Batman Returns is a masterpiece.

Its a tough one, Christian Bale did a bloody good job, Michael Keaton was too much of a wuss as Bruce Wayne. Val Kilmer did it pretty cool, but he's a crap actor. Adam West was far too much of a mincer and George Clooney just didn't do it, he's not cut out for action.
So it has to be Bale.

I totally agree with you, Michael Keaton is a classic but Bale has to get a mention because the new Batman film is just so good and has the very very lush Cillian Murphy in

Michael Keaton, too. I thought Kilmer and Clooney were miscast. Adam West was great for TV when it was still more of a show taken from a comic book and not trying to be more srious like the movies do. Bale was good, too but Mike's my man!

Well it depends... I liked Michael Keaton best as Bruce Wayne. However, the "man in black rubber" would have to be Val Kilmer.
George wasn't a bad mix of both, but he didn't quite have enough "somber" for Bruce or enough "dark and mysterious" for Batman. In all fairness, I haven't seen Christain Bale though.

I would have to say Michael Keaton. I mean I like the other movies with everyone else, but Michael Keaton suits the character of Batman more than the others.
