I didn't until I read your subtitle ... my meager definition of life doesn't go far past the realm of their essence. Life begins, exists for a time, then ends in death. Therefore I have always viewed them as certainly universal; but equally.

However, being the adaptable fellow I've become (the flexible young become the wise old) I accept your premise that everyone dies but not everyone lives as relevant so yes, I agree.

Way to go Sam, I didn't think there was anyone left out there that actually knew the truth ! LOL,, Yes death is far more universal, that's when our REAL life begins, this is just a trial and training period here on earth. It prepares us FOR the afterlife which is why so many religions call it 'Going Home',, that's where we truly belong. We are here on this earth for such a short time, that we would have to have somewhere to go back to, don't ya think ?

Certainly the "L" part of the equation is more unstable, transitory, fleeting, but if we all began a QUEST to experience death, don't you assume we'd miss whatever the Universe had to offer?

To me, life is the beginning of death! It is a transformation. From one form to another, like energy transformation.

I agre death is more universal because either :
- we live again somewhere else
- or we fade to black
- or our remains will be exploded to the stars when earth reaches supernova

Your question appears to be oxymorn, because to die you must first be alive.
