I don't think it will do the Tigers any harm to have the time off - their starting pitchers will probably welcome the recovery time, and the bullpen haven't been taxed anyway. At least it removes the temptation they might have had to try and rush Zumaya back too early.
Whether it helps them will probably come down to how hard the opposition pitching staff have to work in the next two (or three) games in the NLCS - if their bullpen has to work, that will help the Tigers.
I think the Tigers will have too much pitching and just enough offence for whoever they end up playing, and are on too much of a roll to be beaten.

The Tigers will either come in rested or rusty from to much time off. But I wouldn't worry. I am a Yankee fan here in New York. No national legue team can beat the Tigers. The Mets have lost to many pitchers and the Cards just don't have what they used to.
Tigers in 5 over who ever, maybe 4.

I don't think the time off will help or hurt, although you're bound to hear from both sides about how good/bad it is to have that week off. If the Tigers win the Series, people will claim that the week off helped them, and you'll hear the opposite if they lose. In reality, I don't think it matters either way.
If the Tigers are the better team during the Series, then they'll win - it's as simple as that. I would warn you, though, that they could be the better team and still lose, given the short duration of the World Series.

Here's my prediction: the New York Mets will win the NLCS in 6 and win the World series in 5. Why? 1) I think the Mets are due to win. 2) I believe the Mets want to win more than the Tigers do. And 3) When was the last time a National League team won the World Series? Besides, I'm a Mets fan so I would love for them to win.

In Baseball, especially for hitters, rest is bad. A week off is way too long. The Tigers would need more than just an edge to beat the Mets, not so much for the Cardinals, but the Cards are going home soon anyway.
Three days off for the Mets, and it took a few games for the bats to wake up. The Mets are a far better hitting team than the Tigers, how long will the Tigers bats need to wake up? Sorry, but longer than they have left.

Six days of rest = rested arms. Rested arms = Zumaya comes back for Series with his 103 mph fast ball with movement. As the World Series is primarily about pitching, logic dictates the rest helps the team with the better pitching staff and there is no reasonable dispute over who that is, with Zumaya, Rodney, Jones, Ledesma, rested and gunning, look out Cards or Mets.

Tigers Vs Mets
? win in 7
Great series , pitching(tigers) vs offense(mets)
i like both teams so is just to difficult to pick one as favorite , but if the cardinals go to the world series , then GO TIGERS !

It doesnt matter who wins The NL.
Although I'd love to see St. Louis win it.
The week off for Detroit will only make them stronger, especially that pitching staff they have.
The hitters, yeah, they will be a little off. That rest will hurt thier timing I am sure....but it doesnt matter either way.
Polanco is one hitter who always gets on base, and Craig Monroe knows when to hit those "bombs"
Sean Casey will be fully rested and ready to go, and his left handed bat will only make us stronger---especially at home.
I seriously doubt anyone will be able to get past The Tigers pitching staff, regardless of how "bad" our offense is compared to these "ny" teams.
