I agree with two of the previous answers. Make sure your child is getting enough sleep, and find out if everything is okay at school, classmates, teachers, lunch aids. You also have to look at age and disposition of the child. My son goes to school everyday on time, but since he turned 12, he won't get up until 10 minutes before we get out the door. Try giving your child some independence.

What a wimpy parent. What you should do is tell them the night before what time people get up in your house. Then go in 10 minutes before and tell him in 10 minutes he has to get up. Then in 5. Then Turn on the lights and take off the covers. Then go to school with him and learn that people capitalize the first word in each sentences, and put apostrophes in words like won't.

You are the parent, I assume. Take control, make your child get up. Maybe he isn't getting enough sleep. Lots of kids don't like to get up in the morning. It is just a part of being a kid. You just make him get up, no way around it. I had a daughter that was like that - I had to literally drag her out of bed in the morning. We laugh about it now, but at the time it wasn't so funny. Life has its trials, that's for sure!! Good luck!!!

If you're sensible, you'll understand that it's really a horrible environment today for children, and can be rather abusive, in my opinion. Many schools have now banned recess and phys ed, because some fatty might not be able to keep up.

Well a military instructor of mine had that problem with some soldiers. he would go into the bay and throw a cup of water in the soldiers face...then the next day, the same thing and again and again.... by the 4th day...the soldier would wake up...evidentally his mind told him ...wake up before the water comes...lol.

Messy but effective... the soldier always got up after that..... getting up is the hard part...once up, they do what they must!

In your kids case...school!

what child is born to want to go to school?

you gotta force it to go or else a crumbled future.
kids are like that at the start... so you gotta take the lead by showing them that school is fun. try teaching them how to write first by making them interested. the joy of being with other kids etc. and play time at sch. you know your child better.

You are the parent. You rule the household.

Make the child get up. Turn on the light. Uncover him/her. Yell. Turn on the radio/T.V. Shake them. Take away priviledges. Pick them up and move them out of the bed.

Is the child over tired or is there a reason he/she doesn't want to go to school?

Walk into his room playing the bagpipes full blast. If that doesn't work, hire him a motivational speaker like Chris Farley on those SNL episodes.
