Well, if you do, I have a question...

What causes the second, faint rainbow outside the primary source???

And why are its colors in the reverse sequence from the primary rainbow???

We seem to get "double" rainbows in our area periodically. Here is the explanation for the double rainbows.

"Every once in a while, if you get lucky, you may see a second rainbow on the outside of the first, brighter rainbow. This is the "secondary rainbow" which occurs when raindrops high in the atmosphere refract and reflect light back to the viewer.

These raindrops are higher than those which cause the "primary rainbow" and are special because they internally reflect the incoming sunlight twice rather than just once."

Since the second rainbow is a reflection the colors are reversed.

Hope this helps. Unfortunately a double rainbow does not insure a double pot of gold at the end. :}

Lots. Once in my life I saw a triple rainbow. The secondary one was almost as bright a a normal rainbow and the primary was blinding.

Almost every time I see a rainbow there is a secondary rainbow. I'm not sure why the colors are reversed, though.

yes, the second rainbow probably reeflects off of the grounds water from all of the rainfall. the colors are in reverse because there going in the oopposite direction.
