I mean do some after market brands work better
than outhers.

yes of course a moroso or other top brand is miles away from oem and rebuilt junk. dont listen to the people who never built a race motor or changed a waterpump...

Here's a general breakdown, in order of life expectancy:
OEM - most expensive, best warranty
New - Aftermarket, new housing & bearings. Cheaper than OEM, similar quality
Remanufactured - Used casing, usually the better ones. Part is machined where needed and new bearing & seal installed.
Rebuilt - Used casing, but what's left after the reman units are chosen from the pile. Cleaned, new bearing & seal installed.
Brand doesn't matter that much, but if one costs $100 and another costs $10, that ought to tell you something about the manufacturing process or quality of materials.

It all depends . rebuilt or new? Some rebuilders are mass producers. Go with a brand name and warrantee. But in fairness, most water pumps are created equal. They all do the same thing. They pump water. They all have bearings and they all have a seal to keep from leaking.
