I use Limewire all the time but do be careful of program downloads such as programs and crack codes for computer related things. Music and music videos are usually OK. I did get a virus by downloading a computer program but was able to get rid of it .So now I use it strictly for music purposes. Now when I am on there I always run it with my virus protection and have not had any other problems. A box will pop up if the file is corrupt so stay away from those types. Hope this helped you.

It's safe, if you know what you are doing. While using Limewire, you are letting people look into your "shared" folder only. Not your whole computer. When you download from others, keep an eye on the file size. If it's abnormally small (compare it to others), then avoid. Generally, most things you download are fine, and you can download with anti-virus and firewalls on.

I personally wouldn't recommend re-installing limewire. The other users aren't very generous (Take files out of shared before you've finished downloading etc) I'd find another file sharer if I were you.

I have use lime wire for a long time. And I did have some trouble earlier on. I ending up in reformatting my hard drive because of some virus or other and if not for some file recovery software that I had download from Lime at an earlier time I would have lost some stuff I wanted. But now I’m not having any trouble. I run XP and have updates turned on so that my XP is all ways up to date. I also run McAfee security center. And it contently up dates it self. I also downloaded it from lime wire. I go ahead and download file when lime says it corrupt. I haven’t had any trouble with lime in a long time now. But I don’t down load much any more from lime. I have to room on my hard drive or have lost interest, but if my friend says they like a song or something like that I get it for them.
So my advice is keep all your important files backed up like to CD. Keep high security, ya know even big time companys and the government computers get virus at times And if you go to lime wire stay on for as short a time as possible. Get one song at a time and sign off. I’m not sure about this but it seems like there are people that try and hack you computer through lime wire. So I can’t guarantee it’s safe to use Lime wire, but I haven’t had any trouble from them in a long time and just think of all the people who use Lime wire with no trouble.
So now I’m not sure what to tell you I would truly hate it if you got a virus from something I said. Maybe you should ask the question something like “have you ever got a virus from using lime wire yes or no and how secure is your computer” I might have to say yes, although it’s hard to tell just where a virus comes from. Good Luck
oh I fro got this part

Peer to Peer downloading is always far more risky than using trusted web sites. The mere fact that 1000s of people use Limewire to illegally download and share files means that there are plenty of criminals around be careful

it is not safe, i had limewire, and it DESTROYED my computer, i mean viruses.....etc...i had to get a new computer. Theres this website called 4SHARED at http://www.4shared.com/ they offer free safe virus free downloads, and you don't even have to make an account, no credit cards no personal info, no nothing. You just go to the link I gave you, when you get there hit "Search New!" (a button on the toolbar) type in what you wanna search in the search box, hit the search button, then when the results pop up, click on one result, a new window will pop up, go to the bottom of that new window, wait for the 10 second countdown, and hit play or download.

You should know what you are downloading before you do it. PCs are really weak to viruses so be sure to scan whatever you bring on to your computer.
Personally I have a Mac and I have never had any problems with Limewire.

I've got kids that use Limewire quite a lot and I'm always cleaning the system up after they've used that shite program. If I had my way I'd bad the crap.

It's all at Limewire.com.

Limewire itself is safe, but there's no guarantee that what you download is. MP3 should be okay but WMA files can be dodgy. Never download any programs from there - you could end up with anything.

Oh, and it's stealing, safe or not.
