You weren't killed. A boy in my daughter's class is undergoing chemo for an almost uncurable brain cancer. His family is devastated. My mother's donated kidney is failing, and the doctors don't think she is strong enough for another transplant, and she will likely die. A 16 year old neighbor girl was killed as she backed out of her parents driveway and was rammed by a drunk driver. You weren't killed. You will survive. Count your blessings and get over it.

I have been there myself.Compound fractures of the skull.Crushed vertebra in the neck and spine.Too many stitches to count.
First you need to realize that this feeling will be with you for a while.Humans are egotistical beings just knowing your alive doesn't help.Depending on your injuries take your recovery one step at a time.Know that each step of your recovery will not happen over night.
Except that you will never be the same. This trauma has changed you.It is up to you weather the change is good or bad.You need to reach deep inside to find the strength to make it a positive experience.Humans are amazing creatures. We can accomplish almost anything, turning the bad into good.Christopher Reeves and Michael J Fox are prime examples of this.
Never give up.Fight the inner demons of your trauma. You can win and become a stronger person.
I do wish you well and good luck.

Realize that you were almost killed and not killed. That's a huge step, as simple as it seems. Time to take your second chance at life and use it how you wanted to. Life should seem more beautiful now that you have been faced with the possibility of it ending.

In 1988 I was shot in the head and chest. I woke up the next day in intensive care and had a choice. Freak out because it happened or put my life into perspective. Frankly I was tickled pink to be here! Now I realize that if I wake up in the morning, and my family is healthy, it is a good day. no more worrying about small stuff. Be glad you made it , thank God if you believe in him, and go out there realizing that everyday you get up is special. My theory now is if you wake up breathing IT'S A GOOD DAY, if you wake up and your not breathing, stay in bed its going to be a bad day!

Don't keep saying that you were "almost killed." That's focusing on the negative.

Focus on the positive: Keep telling yourself that you "were not killed." (That's a very big difference. You came out the winner.)

BTW: Glad you're OK. ;-)

Please speak about this event with someone you trust. It is perfectly normal to feel some stress related to the incident. In some cases a neutral outside third-party is of help in resolving these kind of issues. I wish you well.

I can't even begin to imagine... I would suppose that you might be thankful........ I would definately veiw life differently. You could begin to process your feelings by writing things down, or talking with a counselor.

Cartoons and Martial Arts. Cartoons help you not to think about it for like twenty minutes and Martial Arts help give you confidence and strength. I know your pain.
