I have a high SAT score and am in the top of my class, but I really want to go to Texas A&M. I am scared that this might be a hinderance to my education. My entire family has gone to A&M and I am deeply rooted in the traditions. I want to earn a degree in Biomedical Sciences with the hope of pursing med school or physical therapy. I do not plan on attending med school @ A&M.

Your happiness is very important in determining how successful you will be in and after college.

But -- I would consider other schools carefully. Its hard to get into Med school and you want to have everything possible on your side.

You need to compare two things:

1. What you want to get out of college
2. Does Texas A&M offer those things

Did your family enjoy their time at the school? Other people's experiences can be a huge sign. Most importantly, does the school have a reputable program for Biomedical Sciences? You need to research their program (retention rates, job placement upon graduation, and credibility of the professors.)

Good luck!
