Not all cameras flash, so that argument doesn't hold water. The paints don't work because modern digital imaging software recreates the numbers from the painted picture. If your number plate is completely sprayed or had heavy enough paint to cover the characters you will be prosecuted anyway. It is illegal to have an obscured or obstructed numberplate and you risk being charged by the first policeman that sees you and isn't doing anything more interesting. A lot of people take chances with obscured number plates (paint. trailers or bicycle carriers). You'd be amazed by how many get a court summons "our of the blue". Also, your chances of just being stopped for a spot check are higher. Because many policemen will be suspicious that someone who's trying to hide their numberplate may also be guilty of something else anyway. If you're honest with yourself you'll agree that's probably true.

er, dont speed?

There is a spray you can use on the number plates so the speed cameras cant see the plate properly, although it is illegal to do it.

There are 2 ways to beat a speed camera...
1) drive past it within the limit
2) drive through it at over 173mph!

Take your car off roading. Do not wash afterwards.

You could also try ensuring that the number plate does not travel faster than the posted speed limit.

I think hairspray or clear varnish works, but the best way is to make sure that your front number plate doesn't exceed the speed limit.

no. you dont have to do anything to your number plate. what you have to do is go and put cling film over the camera! just dont get caught......all you need is cling film and a ladder! i know it sounds dumb but they say that when the photo is taken it cant get and clear view of the number plate so the number wont show up...

Yes, never drive over the speed limit. The speed cameras won't give a damn about you and we all be grateful.

Wrapping it in clear plastic wrap cuts the chances of them getting a picture of your license plate approx. 50% because of reflection.
