Give them a good cleaning with biological washing powder in hot water, then rinse with clean water, when dry, spray with surgical spirit. These two cleaners together, break down the oils in the cat pee and get rid of the smell so there's nothing to attract the cat (or cats) back again. You can get bottles of surgical spirit from the chemist in 500ml sizes. about £1.95 and a cheap spray bottle for pennies from the ironmongers. you will then be ready for any more emergencies courtesy of the cat. I must say though, the surgical spirit pongs a bit for a while. This info was given to me by the cat's protection people. I've tried it in my house, and it works.

Orange peel! Peel an orange and leave the peel inside the boot. Will take the smell away and stop the cat going back to pee in it. Cats hate the smell of oranges. We did it and it works.

biological washing powder made up in a spray bottle it really works cos a kitten did the same in my sons rugby boots!!
(and it was a vet who advised me to use this to get rid of the smell of cat pee ) any cleaner with vamonia in will only attract them to pee in the same spot again!

Get rid of the cat!!
Seriously- if you wipe round the inside with a baby wipe and leave a couple in over night, that should do the trick.

I have made use of a product called Simple Solution which takes care of the cat urine smell quite nicely. You can find more info here: http://www.simplesolution.com/products_us/stain&odor.htm
