No, as far as I'm aware there isn't any truth in the whole thing. But then who's to say the bible didn't cover things up!!! Apparently the idea for the book came from the picture of the last supper, if you check it out it does look a bit like a woman that is next to Jesus. Or, if you prefer to believe, the stories that are going round that he is guilty of plagiarism (see below).
New plagiarism claim for Da Vinci Code
Dan Brown
In the wake of all plagiarism charges against The Da Vinci Code publishers, Random House, in relation to a 1982 book The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail being dismissed, a Russian art historian has stepped forward with a similar claim.
Mikhail Anikin asserts that Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown stole his idea that Leonardo Da Vinci was also a theologian and his Mona Lisa portrait was an allegory for the Christian Church.
Anikin is a Da Vinci expert at the Hermitage Museum.
He has said that he will sue Brown if he does not receive an apology and compensation.
Since The Da Vinci Code was published in 2003, it has become a global blockbuster and a screen adaptation, starring Tom Hanks. is due for release in May.

A French guy with access to the records tried to great a Marivengian connect between himself and the crown of France and Jesus back in the late sixties early seventies. A pair of writers turned it into book Blood in Blood out which is more of a conspiracy investigation than a piece of fiction. They found it to be a concoction by the Frenchman. Dan Brown took the book and turned it into a great piece of pure fiction with references from the book and from his tour guide like writing style. Read Angels and Demons if you liked the tour guide effect. At any rate the conspiracy is false. The historical parts and landmarks are right. The thing is they don't connect together. The Merivengians were all killed. People have gone nuts searching the Louvre. And as for the Rose Chappel, thart part is true as far as its existance, but the family that owns it has always owned it and they just don't want people to know what is in their vault underneath it.

The novel and book is based on the controversial basis that there is a conspiracy within the Roman Catholic Church to cover up the true story of Jesus. I don't think that there is factual truth behind it, just like no one knows for sure if there is a god and Jesus was this holy man. It's what you believe I guess.

Great cat and mouse story. I read both Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code and both were very entertaining. Just know that it is a work of fiction and that is all. I did see the movie and thought that it followed the book as much as it could. It did not make me think twice because I stand firm in my beliefs and anyone who did read this book or watch the movie and had doubts does not stand firm in theirs

Sounds like you fell for it. Hello, it's FICTION! They didn't portray Jesus or Mary Magdalene honestly, it was a portrayal meant to sell books and put cheeks in the seats when it came to movie time. It wasn't even original thought, I'd seen books for the last 20 years saying that Jesus had kids with Mary Magdalene and that European royalty is descended from them. Yeah, right.
It's in the fiction section at the bookstore for a reason! But go ahead and believe whatever you want. It's a free country.

I too enjoyed the movie and the book. It does make you think I have read all of Dan Brown's books since then and they all make you think, but believe them, sorry no. I don't see how they could ever prove it all to be true. They say that Jesus was born a man that means he would have have the same desires as any other man therefore he should not be judged for having normal desires as far as Mary Magdalene goes.

Some parts of it are true my dear but in their truthness, are played out of context. What the author/director did was to make a good conspiracy theory and the basis of any "good" conspiracy theory is to have streaks of truth. People then dont know how o separate fact form fiction and hence the hype around the movie. Do not be deceived. Christ is as real as put forth by the bible.

The best answer, maybe. But you have to remember that The da Vinci Code is a work of fiction.

The book was much better than the film, but still not too bad. While i was reading the book it did really make me think. Suppose we will never know the truth. Its also a little of what you want to believe yourself.
