the unit of inheritence is a gene ,because its a segment of DNA that carries the genetic trait from One generation to another

Gene is the unit of inheritance..

The chromatin network in nucleus has chromosomes which have DNA and genes are the functional units on DNA..
Thus, GENE is the unit of inheritance..
if the sequence on a specific gene is altered, it will not carrry the same message..
So, again proving my point. :-D
