when you switch your washing machine on, did it fill with water, if yes, then you hear a noise and the drum is not tunrning.
it is possible its the drive belt, or it could be the drive motor.
Before you even look at it Please unplug your machine from the electric socket. check the belt by removing the back panel. if belt is on then its the motor.

Call a domestic engineer.

good luck

Could be a number of things but what I would say is that you DONT need a plumber. PLumbers do plumbing - Washing machine repair men mend washing machines. If you call a plumber you could end up with a wasted call out fee on top of everything else. If you look in Yellow Pages there are seperate catagories for both. Good luck x

It sound like your filter is blocked
they are normally located at the bottom on the front maybe behind
a panel
first of all turn off the electric
if you undo this and pull it out you will need to place towels on the floor as some water will leak out
clear any muck from the filter replace turn it on and try
if this fails then you will need a washing machine repair man and not a plumber

The drive belt has probably broken.
If you or your partner is fairly handy, it's a simple task to remove the back panel and replace the belt yourself, as I have done before.
The cost of a new belt will vary depending on the machine, but should be around £20.00 or less.
A plumber would not fix this, you need a washing machine mechanic if you do not want to fix it yourself

check underneath it. look for a motor and see if there is a connector from it to the transmission. also see if there is some junk under it. it might just be the connector from the motor to the transmission. not hard to replace and cost maybe 20 bucks. get someone mechinically inclined and tell them to take the agitator off from inside the drum. there is a cap covering the nut or screw there. then the underside will allow the transmission to drop once it is disconnected. then put in the new connector and put back togethere. check all connections and should work. i just had to replace one so i know. cost is mainly labour if you can't do your self. tools needed socket set pliers and a few screw drivers. you shouldn't need to take sides off as i found access easy tipped over to the front of it. if it is belt drive then look for broken belt and change it out. very common problem cheap to fix

Mine did the same, I had to call out a washing machine man, who told me that the belt needed replacing, its something to do with what the the drum is attached to, it had come off and couldnt be put back on.

Needless to say I had to dip into my savings to buy a new one, once the belt goes, you have to get a new one..

Get a washing machine man out anyway, see what he says, it might be mendable, I always have bad luck with washing machines anyway.

Good luck I hope you get it sorted.

seems like the drive belt is broken
take off the back of the machine it is a panel which is usualy held inplace by screws if the belt has gone its a simple job that can be done easily purchase a new belt and place it on the two pullys you might have to loosen the motor and then slide it back so the belt is tight

By now you know you need an appliance technician. There are so many different models out there alot of times they do not have parts with them, and you end up waiting for them.If your machie is old you may want to evaluate buying a new one if you can.

Sounds like a belt issue, open up the back and and have a look for bits of rubber on the floor
