Considering Hawaii is in the middle of a ocean plate, it would be kind of hard for the earthquakes to be related to plate collision, that is logically speaking of course.

According to the USGS, most of Hawaii's earthquakes are directly related to volcanic activity and are caused by magma moving beneath the earth's surface.
