Tummy Massage - Gently massage and rub baby's tummy in a clockwise direction. Place your hands at baby's navel and massage in a circular motion, moving your hand(s) out and away from the center of baby's belly.

Warm Bath - Some medical professionals suggest giving your constipated baby a warm bath. The thought is that this may help relax baby and "get things moving" again. Give a tummy massage as you are drying baby.

Bicycle Legs - Place your baby on her back and lightly hold her legs in a half-bent position. Gently begin to move your baby's legs as if she is riding a bicycle. Alternate "Bicycle Legs" with Tummy Massage. *"Bicycle Legs" also may help to relieve a baby who is gassy.

In older infants who are just beginning solid foods, you may want to avoid baby foods such as rice cereal, applesauce and bananas as these may aggravate constipation!

Barley or oatmeal cereals, prunes, peaches, plums, apricots and most vegetables are preferred.

Juices are helpful, especially apple or prune, but use in moderation, as they are not as nutritious for babies as formula or breastmilk.

if the constipation continues for longer than 2 days make an appt to see the pediatrician. hope she feels better soon!!

a good idea for constipation and a baby is juice. Apple juice works quite well. Ask your pediatrician about the concentration and check if the child is allergic to juices. Assuming that their is no allergy, then use the concentration recommended by your child's pediatrician --- and prepare for the dam to break. I used this on both of my children. Normally after about 30 minutes, the dam woudl break and their would be a mess all over. This is also very useful on older children and adults as well. Pruine juice is the most well known laxitive in the juice family, but it tastes horrible(I think). This is why I recommend Apple juice --- it is a tastes most kids like.

Prunes for 6 month old readymade baby food or stew dried prunes and whirr them in the blender. A spoonful in cereal is nice. Ask your doctor, if you can, first. Otherwise babies generally like prunes but start slowly a small spoonful to begin then a bit more. Too much could give the baby loose stool.
Sometimes more water is all that's needed
I always boiled the water and added a small amount of corn syrup, less than a teaspoonful per bottle.8 ounces.

Prunes baby food works wonders. I don't know if they still sell it, but it always worked great when my son was a baby. It goes straight through and softens everything up. In the long run, I would look at what's causing the problem and look at what she is eating that makes her constipated, or maybe you need to switch formulas. But for occasional problems prunes work great. Good Luck.

you can buy Gerber prunes in the jar in the baby food isle and mix it with cereal or another fruit if she does not like it. She may just eat it as is. Also, you might try adding a little bit more juice to her diet to cut down on constipation. You can also buy prune juice and water it down some. I had 7 kids and this has always worked best for me.

I always gave my daughter gerber prunes mixed with some baby cereal light on the cereal as certain ones can make the constipation worse. Also a teaspoon of white Kayro syrup in her bottles once a day should help.

KARO (spelling?) Corn Syrup in her bottle.....my granddaughter is 2 1/2 months and it works well for her. My daughter, (Aunt to the baby) is a pediatric nurse in the NIC-UNIT of one of the top children's hospitals in the country and told us of this remedy after asking some of the Drs that she works with.

Prune baby food or juice. Be careful with this as it can cause the opposite problem if used too much or too often.
