I have guppies. they don't lay eggs. they have babies the same way humans do. you don't need to do anything at all. just feed them and keep their water clean. They will have babies all on their own with no help. they don't even need to be in a heated tank. I have had them for years. and a whole lot of babies from them too. to tell if they are female you will see that their "belly" fin ( at the bottom near the tail ...not the 2 on the sides of the belly) is rounded like a fan. the males have a pointed one. are you sure it if a female? well good luck with your babies.
oh almost forgot to tell you, when she has babies make sure you take them out and put them in a separate fish bowl because the mother and any other fish in the tank/fish bowl will eat the babies. when the babies are born, I crush the fish food to make it small enough for the babies mouth to eat it. I use granule pellets for their food because they crush easy. the babies will roughly be the size of a fat eyelash. I hope this helps

Guppies (Lebistes reticulatus) are live bearers and the gestation period is about 28 days which can be lengthened by the females if conditions are not favorable. Check your water chemistry...both the ammonia and nitrate levels. If eithe are elevated, then a water change is needed. Temperature is another factor and a temperature about 78 to 84 degrees is suitable. Do not use a breeding trap as many females stress out and abort...try hornwort...usually available at the pet store or you can use anacharis for the babies to hide. Most breeders use small tanks for pregnant fish and remove the females after they have dropped their babies...Another fish that is sold cheaply as a 'guppy' is the gambusia and they are egg-layers, but if the male and the female fish have color on the tail, they are guppies. They were first discovered on Trinidad about 70 years ago by a naturalist named Plantagnet Lechmeer Guppy and named in his honor. Singapore exports about $5,000,000 a year of guppies to the US.

Guppies are livebearers they don't hatch :) I believe the gestation period is about 4 weeks for guppies.
Here's a link, read the post 5th up from the bottom. This guy seems pretty informative, guess it can actually be up to 40 days.
