Well freind there is a symybol in the left alignment of the center of the Card. If it is 5th edition, 4th or revised you could tell by how light the cards artwork is. The difference between alpha and beta is that alpha is the only set with rounded corners. They are not allowed to be used unless you have an all alpha deck or you have card sleeves on(which I suggest). If you where meaning mana though you could tell by the symbols at the top of the card. It could have something that looks like and drop of water. Which is Blue mana. Island or A small flame which is a mountain. Which is red mana. Then there is the swamp which is black mana. and then there is PLains which is white. and then there is a symbol of a tree. which accordingly is a forest or green mana.
