i have cable internet and i was wondering if i restored my computer if i'd need some disk to put it back on my computer or if it just automatically detects it and reinstalls it itself?

I wouldn't rely on it. Make sure you have all your driver disks and personal files (including all your bookmarks), backed up first.

Unless your are connected through your USB instead of the CAT-5 to the cable modem, It may not recognize the modem. And if it does, you will still need a disk to get the correct ISP and servers of the internet provider

I wouldn't bank on it....I always but my basic drivers on my jump drive before formatting my pc (Ethernet, Grahpics, Modem, Sound, Wireless). It's never a good idea to format without being prepared to reinstall drivers...Especially if you are going to be reinstalling Windows Xp Pro!
