Some condoms are made of latex which comes from a rubber tree, but as for gum it depends on which type, chewing gum definitely no.They used to chew sap from cerain types of trees like pine trees and in areas where rubber trees grow the locals do chew on it.

Both of them are made out of latex - which in turn is either a product of the rubber-tree (technically speaking, 'Hevea brasiliensis' or 'Ficus elastica')

However, in some chewing gums, latex used is made artificially (designed to retain flavor for a longer time), in which case the tree theory does not stand.

Hope this helps.

Condoms are made of synthetic polymers, which are petroleum products (all plastics and synthetic rubbers come from petroleum). Gum base is called chicle, which does come from a tree.
