The Beatles were before the past 25 years, but their impact is profound and they influence current artists... so yeah, the Beatles are the most influential band would be the Beatles. I would also say that some early punk, like the sex pistols should be considered as the most influential band, because punk is still alive and thriving where rock and roll seems rather dead in many circles.
