You have to get a common denominator. That would turn 1/2 into 3/6 (multiply by 3 top and bottom). 3/6 + 1/6 = 4/6. Reduce it down to 2/3.

you have to find the common denominator which would be 6. So you figure what number will go in to 2 to make 6. so you will use 3/6 + 1/6 = 4/6 which can be reduced to 2/3 because 2 can go into 4 and 6. Hope this helps some!! Good luckk!!!
