So I recently made the switch from acoustic drums to electric. I bought a cheap piano amp for the sake of messing around, but if I wanted to eventually play my acoustic and electric kits together, possibly w/ a full band, what size amp should I be looking for?

I think you're better off with a PA system/PA speakers - otherwise it's going to be hard to get the full frequency range and volume (without distortion) you would need with a drumset. We have an electronic drumset in our apartment and just run it into our studio monitors - it works great cause the the bassist/guitarist can also plug their output into the mixer and they can all practice with headphones (or quietly through speakers and not irritate the neighbors!)

I know people who program drums and then have a live drummer play along at shows, and that's always plugged into the house PA system. That's one less thing you have to worry about lugging around cause most venues (or rehearsal spaces) will provide a PA system for you.
