because to see things far away you can't see through the glasses, but to see things close up you must look through the glasses, hence they must be positioned far down on the nose, so you can bob your head up and down to see. getting old sucks.

Because presbyopia is a pain. Whether the wearer has bifocals, trifocals or progressive lenses, nothing is ever in the right place to look at straight. So glasses end up in funny places, like down the nose. (Or they could have just waited too long between prescriptions.) It's like looking through binoculars and never being able to get the focus quite right. Just something for you to look forward to.
