Solve,
15p + p = 7 - 12p
Add (12p) to both sides,
15p + p + (12p) = 7 - 12p + (12p)
28p = 7
p = 7/28
p = 1/4

Shawanda, Dear,
You should be working on both your Math and English homework. The proper question is not "how do i ...," but "How do I solve this equation: 15p + p = 7 - 12p ?
15p + p = 7 - 12p
simplify: 16p = 7 - 12p
add 12p to each side
16p + 12p = 7 - 12p + 12p
28p = 7
divide by 7 (you can divide by 28 here, but this makes the steps easier to manage and clearly understandable).
4p = 1
divide by 4
p = 0.25 (or 1/4).
Morningstar was subtracting, not adding.
Hunter just plain did it wrong.
Now, you should copy this over a few times so you understand it, and then do a few more problems on your own, and practice the grammar.
Good luck with your homework.

15p+p=7-12p
add like terms
16p=7-12p
add 12p to both sides
28p=7
divide by 28
p=1/4 or .25

Sounds like a market equilibrium problem to me
15p+p = 7-12p
or, 16p + 12p = 7 - 12p + 12p (adding 12p on both sides)
or, 28p = 7
or p = 7/28 (dividing by 28p)
or p = 1/4
or p = 0.25

15p+p=7-12p.....original equation
15p+p=>16p=7-12p......simplify one side of the equation
16p+12p=7......put the same term on one side(put numbers with p on one side
28p=7.........simplify one side of the equation
28p/7=7/7.......divide both side by 7
p=1/4 or .25.......... final answer
