he will only bring success if the Cubs also pick up some pitching and a few more bats.

Lou pinella cannot be manager of the cubs, sorry. The Cubs are a classy team, and then you bring in pinella? Bad move by the cubs front office. If it were up to me, id bring joe girardi in. he played for the cubs, and hes available to the team.I mean look at what he did with the "minor League" marlins, they were in it untill a few games before the season ended.

Sorry Cubs fans, this is a terrible fit. All Pinella brings to Chicago is a short fuse and a dirt kicking side show. Cubs fans don't need that, they need pitching and a manager that doesn't think he's bigger than the game. Joe Girardi was a much better fit. Former Yankee and Cub, Joe in much better in tune with today's players and would have worked well with the Cubs.

Lou Pinella reminds me of Mike Ditka, which could be good for the Cubs. I'm a Cubs fan and they need some shaking up. Dusty Baker wasn't a jerk, he just didn't get the job done. I think the Cubs will do better next season (maybe out of fear of their new Coach?!) but I'm not sure they'll go alll the way.

Crappy team + decent manager = still crappy team.
Look at Tampa were Lou was before. He must want a new condo in South Florida and ran out of cash. The Cubs have been and will always be a train wreck.

Didnt they fire the last guy because the team said he was bringing them down and he was a jerk, well noe that got lou and he is a jerk too but thats his job isnt it? Anyway he did ok for the reds and im sure he will put forth some effort and try not to make it obvious he is just biding his time.
