No. It's actually because the GOP has been focused on mostly symbolic social issues like gay marriage, flag burning, Terry Schiavo, etc, instead of doing the work that the biggest wing of the party supports, namely the economic conservatives.
Tax cuts are great, but where was the effort to shrink gov'y, reduce gov't regulations, reduce spending or cut pork? It surely wasn't present in this GOP run Congress.
It's hard to fire up the base when you've ignored them for the last 6 years. And that's what's going to hurt the GOP this time around.
Those that care about National Security have to vote GOP, because the Dems have abandoned the issue altogether. The "security moms" ain't enough of a swing vote.
The Foley thing is a side-show. It's just the latest political sex scandal, and the guy has already resigned. It's not enough to sway many people. And for every Duke Cunningham there's a William Jefferson. Corruption happens in both parties.

I hope the Democrats can use this to their advantage. They always seem to implode at the finish line. IF, they do win, their lack of leadership coupled with their lack of unity, will most assuredly lead to another Republican in the White House in '08, as well as return to control of Congress. That said, let's go Dems. Sling as much mud as you can to cover up the fact that you have NO REAL PLAN FOR ANYTHING. Nothing could help this country more in the next two years than to have the Dems win in November. The Congress we have now is already not working, and will continue to not work after the Dems win, but their ineptitude will pave the way for a Republican change that will work in '08.

From your self-description:
"About Me: Right or wrong, I have an opinion on almost everything. Although not religious in the conventional sense, I do try to live by the Golden Rule"
You call THIS living by the Golden Rule?
What goes around really does come around, fella, and you are racking up a terrible bill that you will be unable to pay. Why don't you read the Golden Rule sometime, and ponder what it really means?

Hi, I'm Gary. I like to ask unoriginal, played out questions about George Bush because I'm a Democrat and I automatically have to ask unoriginal, played out questions about George Bush to reconfirm my belief that I'm making a difference in the world and fighting the system. Go ahead Gary, ask some more questions about George Bush...you really are beating a dead horse. WHAAAAAA, GEORGE BUSH BAD, WHAAAAA!
Shut up already.

The Republicans have been hijacked by neo cons who have been lying to the Americans for a long time, and because Americans have been buying into it, they not only started feeling immune, they started believing in their own lies. Because more and more people are questioning the lies, their propaganda is not working as well. Their true nature is being exposed; Greedy ideologues who only serve the interests of the wealthy and of corporations at the expense of citizenship.

I'm gonna toast a drink just for you on election night when the Republicans keep majority in congress. I almost wish they wouldn't win so we wouldn't have to hear you whining for the next 2 years.

It would be foolish for anyone to think that Dubya is the mastermind of the Republican Party. NO he is NOT causing the implosion of the party, the party is causing the implosion its self. Dubya just happens to be the idiot lackey that the American Populus voted to be the figurehead. That man couldn't muster the intelligence it takes to ruin standing up, much less the current sad state of affairs in the GOP. Has anyone stopped to think about the fact that these baffoons are the law makers and policy shapers of our nation and they can't even keep one of their own from molesting children who frankly have no business being in the halls of congress anyway. Tomorrow's leaders need to come from those who are not exposed to the treachery and treason of morals that goes on behind the scenes in D.C. Ok?

Isn't it funny how when little groups of people repeat the same lies over and over to one another, they actually come to believe them. Are you one of the liars, or one of their targets?
