El Duque passes test: In the bullpen before Sunday night's game, Orlando Hernandez cut loose for the first time since injuring his right calf muscle running on Oct. 3 before what was to be his Game 1 start against the Dodgers in the NLDS.

Throwing for about 15 minutes from 50 to 60 feet, all from a stretch position, El Duque pronounced himself fit to rejoin the club for "the next round," which would be the World Series if the Mets come back to knock out the Cards.

"I'm pretty happy," Hernandez said. "I can come back. If the team has a chance in the next round, I will be ready.

"[When] is the World Series, in a week?" he asked, grinning. "I don't feel pain. I feel good."

I think it does, and that's some bad news for Kitten fans.

So the Canaries get lucky and win one game, after the Mets hand them one on a silver platter, and you think they can get past the better team? Keep dreaming.

It's huge. The rain delay benefited the Mets the most because it gave Glavine an extra days rest and as a result the Mets should win tonight,
When The Mets finally win this thing they are going to have a problem because of their depleted and tired starting pitching. Having El Duque available helps solve that problem.

It might change the World Series if the Mets actually win their series against the Cardinals. I think the Mets are the better of those two teams, but it's now a best-of-three in which anything can happen.

Even if the Mets do make it, I'm not sure that El Duque will be the difference one way or the other. If the Mets are going to win, they'll need that offense to make some noise against an excellent Tigers' staff, and they'll need more than just Duque to step it up.

Yes it does. When El Duque is watching the cardnals in the World Series it won't hurt when he picks up the remote to turn the channel during commercials.

Well in order for him to picth in the World Series the Mets need to win first. Not sure that is going to happen though.

As a Mets fan, I am not sure they will beat the Cardinals. They have the better pitching right now.

I think it might be fun to watch him pitch in his first game in what 21 -24 days. I think those kittens might just knock him around. I would LOVE to watch DETROIT knock off both NY teams in the same year.
