It certainly benefits humanity in several ways.
First, when we learn more about our neighboring planets we end up learning more about our own planet, and most of this information is useful to us in our adaptation to our environment. Like it or not, humans have survived and prospered through adaptation.
Second, the technology used in space exploration has resulted in improved technology in our daily lives. The computers we are using are a by-product of space exploration technology. Do you use velcro fasteners? Thank the space program. Even foods and packaging are influenced by space technology.
Space exploration has also opened doors in medical technology. We know more now about how we process oxygen, and how our balance functions work and even how we maintain muscle tone as a result of space exploration.
So I would say most definitely it does.
