Yes actually I am, we are starting to live in a nanny state where the government believes that we cannot make decisions for ourselves. For example, banning smoking in certain places. Didn't they try this with prohibition and alcohol? Whats next, banning twinkies cause they make you fat? Its a persons choice whether or not to ingest these substances, It may not be my choice, but I sure don't think that I can say you can't do it.

Ramed down are throats.

I wonder what that means.

Assuming it means '...rammed down our throats...' Yes, I can well do without all this healthy eating nonsense, especially when the supermarkets latch onto it and use it as an advertising feature. I get so pissed off with seeing Jamie bloody Oliver prancing about telling me that this or that doesn't EVEN contain any hydrogenated fats that I fear for his well being should I ever have the misfortune to meet him!!!

I am fed up with it too. I realise that I am not going to live forever and want to enjoy a few simple pleasures before I do. I am actually quite healthy despite not having a "healthy lifestyle" I don't force other people to eat bad food or smoke but if I want to then I should be able to do it without being made to feel guilty about it.

We are supposed to be a free country, we should be allowed to eat whatever we want.

I accept the health service may wish to give us advice on what is healthy or not, and this could be a good thing.

As for the government "telling us" what to decide, then we have just lost our freedom!

I don't think that they actually do push healthy living. There have an obligation to educate children that smoking is bad, that getting blitzed all day long on cheap high-octane cider is bad, that stuffing your face with McDonald's cholesterol burgers will catch up with you and is bad, that injecting heroin or smoking crack cocaine is bad, that sitting in front of a PlayStation all day long is bad, that taking a gun and shooting your classmates because you listened to too much heavy metal backwards is bad,and being a burden on the good staunch upright members of the community who want to exploit the poor in order to maintain a moderately high end lifestyle is bad. Of course no one in the government would think of doing any of the above or sleep with rent boys or prostitutes or take bribes or vote ( on our behalf ) to invade a country on the flimsiest of pretexts and the blatantly lie about the reasons for said invasion

~~ most of the real people in this world are almost choked to death on this topic! we are to the point of rebellion and do not like others telling us every move to make. it is a controlled government that is pushing socialism down our throats. i am not too sure how to buck this as it makes us look as if we are non cooperating individuals that do not care for others. if there is an out and you know how to escape let me know for i too am not a happy camper!

I don't like the fact that we can not buy the unhealthy goods (drugs and things), but I praise the fact that things like cigarettes are being discouraged. We should be allowed to do whatever we want but doing things that will kill us should be discouraged by society.

No I'm not. Not when I look at the 60% of overweight Americans in disgust. It's an embarrassment to our country and should be an embarrassment to you too.

Reesie - prohibition eliminated alcohol so no one can drink it anywhere. They are not making cigarettes illegal. They are just saying you can't smoke in a building where people don't smoke. Is that hard to take it outside and kill yourself there without killing everybody else?
