I know I have my question in the wrong section but I can not find the right section for this and need help right away.I moved to Texas and descovered Texas is one huge ant hill.My almost 23 month old gets attacked by these annoying red ants daily.I have 3 acres of land. What is the cheapest and most effective ant killer out there? And do these red ants carry anything bad that my son can catch? These bites are painful to him when he first gets them and then itches him for a few days. Also he gets pus in every single bite he gets,I do too sometimes. He`s averaging a few ant bites to 20 a day and Im fed up with it.Anyone that can help I will appreciate it.Keep in mind any ant killer you suggest has to be safe for him and my cats and dogs to be around.

Simple solution. Go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy Andro Granuals in the 25 lb. bag, it may take 4 bags for 3 acres, but you will only need to do this once this year, they will last for the rest of the year. Get a fertilizer spreader to spred the stuff, should take about an hour.

You are going to have to get some ant killer to put on your yard...I would suggest keeping your son inside for a couple of days afterwards...we just moved away from Texas, so I know what you mean about the fire ants. Try some hydrocortizone cream on the owies and I wouldn't think that a few bites would do anything, but more than that I am not sure if he can be hurt or not...Contact your pediatrician because I am unsure if the bites from the Ants contain poison or not...FYI., ants cannot drown, so any water death should be ruled out.

Being from Texas also, you need to find the ant hills they are coming from. Next boil a large pot of water and pour it all over the ant hill (s). This will seep into the entire colony and even burn the queen ant laying eggs. You should also fumigate monthly. Tell them you have pets and they will use mild, yet effective poisons that will not harm your pets.

Im around San Antonio and know exactly what you mean, theyre big pests. The cheapest and healthiest way to go is to use orange peels on the mounds or citrus oils as a spray. Another way to go is to use soapy water or windex.
