I'm currently attending a JC and looking at my transcript. At the end of my transcipt, there's a total for my CSU GE credits and a total for my UC IGETC. Now, in order to transfer to a UC, you have to have 60 transferable credits. I have 24 on IGETC total, and 27 on CSU GE total, my questions is, do I add them both together? Which that will give me 51 transferable credits?! Thanks!!!

After a math class, I'll be done with the IGETC requirements. But when I went on the UC sites, it says that it requires 60 transferable credits to transfer... so I'm wondering, looking at my transcript, if I add the total for the completion of CSU AND the IGETC together to get the total of my transferable credits?

No don't add them. You still need 36 units for UC and 33 for CSU. If you're transferring to UC, just follow the IGETC requirements. Contact a transfer counselor at the UC or CSU, not the JC counselor. If your JC is on semester, you may really have more quarter units than you think. Also, check with the counselors at UC & CSU to see if they have an automatic acceptance agreement with your JC. Which UC or CSU are you trying to transfer to?

Don't add them. The extra units you need will be classes you need for your major. Make sure you take everything you can at the JC, because UCI will be more expensive, but be sure the classes are UC transferable. Contact UCI's transfer department and make sure you take all the classes you need for your major.

Check with UCI's transfer counselor and/or your JC to see if there's an acceptance agreement between them, if your JC is near UCI. If so, and you meet the minimum gpa requirements, you'll have automatic acceptance. Saddleback College has this agreement.

csu and igetc are a lot in common, with some slight variations. what your transcript says is that you have 24 units completed under the igetc requirements and 27 units under the csu requirements. no you dont add them together because they are two different totals for two different systems.

You totally have to ask an advisor at the school you want to go to: they have rigid policies on what transfers and what doesn't. But, if you went to a JC, chances are most--if not all--of your credits will transfer.
