this friend of mine did arrange marriage and its been 4 years, she has 3 year old daughter too, though the situations were never good for her, but now things have detoriated..... her husband says that he married her so that she can take care of her family an does not like her at all, he abuses her and her parents everyday almost round the clock, it becomes reaaly untolerable for her, he has hit her too, but cuz she hit him bak, now the problem is that she can not even leave him(indian readers cud relate to it better), as she is not earning and not that educated that that she cud earn so much to sustain herself and her daughter, and her husband is going worse to worst evryday, as she abuses all day with the worst of abuuses one can think of and then have sex in the night and no she doesnt refuse, cus she thinks that will just worson the scenerio, she wants to improve on her marriage or wants to come out, if she leave him, then there r additional social burdens( wat will pple say )

again the indian readers can relate to it better, but plzzzzz help, wat shud she do, she has tried everything to make her marriage work, but in vain, the husband say that he doesnt want it to improve , just want to make it worse for her

and it is veryy difficult to go to courts, it takes years in india to get a simple maintantance and a decade to solve the divorce case, confused?????

social burdens are not worth abuse or your life. Encourage her to leave now. If she is in America we don't tolerate that here. Call the police and have him arrested. Tell her to press charges and go to a shelter for protection. That's what shelters are for... to help women in her situation. Just because that guy married her and supports her doesn't give him the right to beat and rape her. And it is rape if you're married and you refuse.Please please help her to leave. It doesn't serve well for the child to witness this.

If this matter happen in Singapore, she is protected by the Women's Charter Act. Get her Personal Protection Order from the Family Court and then ask for a fix amount of maintenance fees from her husband. If he abuse her further, divorce him base on unreasonable behaviour. Even an animal abuser needs to face the consequences. What more she is a human being.

battered women shelter is best option, they will get her and the child out and help her get educated and into the work force. they will also help with housing and personal needs. they will also help her get a protection order and help her file and get divorced. Please encourage her to go soon before the worst happens. Good Luck.

She should call the police and have him arrested, then divorce him, and take everything he owns.
