We've had the same ink cartridges for about a year, but they are both full (we barely ever use the printer). Today I tried to print out some things but everything other than what should have been black came out pink. What's going on and how can I fix this?

You have not used your printer for a long time.Ink cartridges have to be moist the whole time.Try to get them moist with a bit of alcohol on the tips.If that does not work replace them.Never get ink cartridges refilled, they leak and can break your printer. Please buy new once.hope this helps.

Either the ink is low on black, or your black ink cartridge is misaligned.

It might be kind of hard to help you fix it, because I don't know how the printer looks like and all that, but here are some tips:

First, most likely, the black ink cartridge is misaligned and the printer assumes that there is no black ink cartridge so it won't print in black. Simply take both cartridges out and put them back in, making sure they snap into place.

Another possibility is that the ink is low and it switches to color. Try switching around the 2 ink cartridges and print the same page to see whether it prints in black or color. It should print color.

Thirdly, your ink cartridge might just have dried out due to not being used much. I think the only way you can fix this is getting a new black ink cartridge.

You're sure the cartridges are full? Do you know how to print out a test page from your computer? I think if you go into the printer in the settings, there should be an option to print a test page. If the page prints out in all colors, the cartridges are fine, but if they print out in pink, then you probably need to replace the black cartridge.

It could be that the ink cartridge nozzles are clogged. Some of the ink dried up and clogged the nozzles. Look in your printer's help files or go to your printer manufacturer's web site to find instructions on cleaning the ink cartridge.

Usually, you should print something once every two weeks to maintain the ink cartridge nozzles.

the problem could be that you are barely using the printer. sometimes ink cartridges need to be used to keep the flow of ink coming out correctly. might need to clean the cartridges or better yet, get new ones.

i dont think you have a problem with your printer.

Hi. Try uninstalling the printer and let Windows (or the Mac) find the drivers when you reboot. If that does not work try running the 'clean printer head' utility. You may need to do this more than once. If all else fails, try a new color cartridge. And make sure the black cartridge did not get filled with green ink. (Stranger things have happened at xxxmart.)

Pink?

Pity, you didn't mention what's the name and model of the printer.

Perhaps the drivers have gone corrupt because it's printing black OK, and Pink requires using CM & Y; so it cannot be a printer head blockage.

However, I'd advise you to seek professional; help; because this might just be a hardware issue, too.

Replace color ink cartridges.

Lack of use, ink nozzles dried out.
Nearly impossible to fix.

Try Cartridge World for lower cost, excellent cartridges.
Local stores are becoming plentiful.

You need a new color cartridge. If you don't use the cartridges much they tend to dry up. and B&W cartridge, also.)

Hope that helps.

If you leave the cartriges to long, they will get dried up and run out of ink, get them refilled, or get new ones!
