You need to tell her/him so. I have a very close friend and we totally disagree on everything in politics. We came close to having a feud several times but managed to curb it. Then one time we went all out with it and I wanted nothing else to do with her. I took back my picture I gave her and told my other friends we simply could not be friends again. About a month later, we both at the same time came to each other to apologize. We never spoke of politics again and we are still very good friends.

What's to argue? We all know the dip s**** in Congress need to be replaced with some who not only know what they're doing but actually do something instead of bickering back and forth and just blaming each other.

You let them know that you just have very strong views on politics and that there was nothing personal about it towards them

You have nothing to be sorry for.
You had an intellectual discussion, and the other party couldn't handle your point of view.
To each their own.
If this person is truly your friend, they'll get over it.

yes but not because of of my own personal views though, my father in law voted for bush while my parents voted for kerry so we got to talking at dinner one night..all of us. and my father in law started disagreeing with my parents and i did not know what to do so i just tried to stop them before it got serious. needless to say, we don't have dinners like that anymore.
