This is after the US Revolution, leading up to the Adams persidency.

Actually not very good! When our Constitution was written there was no mention of 2 key things that were to decide how the country was to be formed!
1) Political parties
2) Slavery

There was no mention of political parties because at first everyone had the same want, The want to be free from England and be our own country! after the constitution was signed our forefathers were broken into 2 factions the Federalist and the Democratic Republicans, The Federalist wanted a very strict following of the constitution and the Democratic Republicans wanted a more open translation

Also the issue of slavery became an issue because 1/2 owned slaves and the other half did not! Remember 5 of the first 12 presidents came from Virgina a slave state! I hope this answers your question!
