i would say act, even though i want to be a writter/director, a director has a clear sense of what he wants to see, an actor has to do his best to interprit the directors thougts. memorize lines, rember where hes supposed to go, which way to look, all of that.

I've done both over roughly a ten-year period, and I'd say acting is harder for me personally. Directing is just as passionate an experience for me, but I feel more in control (for obvious reasons) and at ease when I'm directing. I love the challenge of acting, though--it's scary and exciting when you get a great director you can trust and take risks with! While I love performance, I'd say my favorite part of every production is the creative, experimental period during rehearsals.

Direct for sure! As an actor u show up and read you lines. the director has to posiiton the actors and tell them how to play out the scene. Make sure all the actors/actresses are in union with each other in physical and vocal sense.

Basically directing requires intelligence, whereas acting requires memorization and pretending

Well, the role of an actor is pretty clear but sometimes the role of a director is not so clear. The role of a director sometimes is dictated by the studio and the studio determines how much freedom and control a director has. If you ur a director that is simply following instructions from the studio, being a director is probably easier.

All things being equal, clearly a director (at leasta good one) is responsible with nearly every facet of a production.

Look at Kevin Costner he can't do either. Its easier to tell someone what to do than show them.
