Cultural diversity or all one culture? How can you have both?

You can have core cultural values with different cultures contributing to those values. It was this way all the way up until political correctness showed up and insisted that America was bad and everyone should divorce themselves from the culture that made this country great in the first place.

Cultural diversity has replaced the melting pot.
We decided that the melting pot is lame.
When you grow up, your generation can promote whatever changes you deem essential.

Ivyvine: Melting Pot was a theory that people from all over the world would come to America and become absorbed in the American culture instead of maintaining their own. It was about total assimilation.

Not really. I think its about being more tolerant of others more than being one culture. People today are so segregated, the melting pot theory is a joke!

because they dont realize that they are living in a melting pot. they r too busy working to know about their surroundings so they goggle at everything and everyone of different cultures like they are an animal at a zoo, it is actually quite weird that people do that. oh well, we cant change everyone.

The term "melting pot" was merely used to show we are equal to each other & that color doesn't matter. We can be very different & still be equal as far as human rights are concerned.
