These are the names of various historical goddesses -- common Wiccan theology coflates them into one goddess -- there is some empirical evidence that in a very real sense, that may be true --- that Inanna developed into Isis and so forth. I don't know the field in great enough depth to comment further.

Oh, and the sequence of names is also the beginning of a well known Wiccan chant. and used in a number of other Wiccan chants. The band Inkubus Sukkubus uses the sequence of names in a wonderfully awesome song titled "Wytches' Chant 98" and in their song "Witches" (link below)

They are all goddesses Isis = Egyptian Astarte = not sure - Sumerian or Persian? Diana = Roman Hecate = Greek Demeter = Greek Kati (Kali?) = Hindu Inanna = not sure. Persian? The represent different things, like Isis rose from the dead so is a goddess of the underworld, and Kali is a goddess who seeks vengeance on evildoers. Roman and Greeks had different names for what was basically the same goddess - ie the wife of the Great God (Zeus in Greek and Jove in Latin) was Hera in Greek and Minerva in Latin.

Isis is egyptian , Astartè (or Ashtarouth) is from Mesopotamia , Diana is Roman , Hecate (Hekate) is Greek also is Hecate ,Kali (Kalika) is Hindu , and Inanna is Sumerian . you can find theme also under other names (like Diana is called also Selene and Artemis) and this is because most of em are the Moon that has three majour faces (young , full and old) ---- )o(----- . so the three are one godess in three (a trinity) . every old religion kne this one godess and always had the same characters : a mother (even if a virgin in same time) , fertility, witchcraft , related to the moon...- also about all those names for one godess do you know that the Greek called Isis by "The Lady with ten thousands names" . They are all names of goddesses throughout human history. I know that Isis is Egyptian; Astarte - I don't know; Diana the roman version of the greek goddess of the hunt; Hecate is greek/roman and connected with the transfer to the underworld; Demeter is greek/roman mother goddess; Kali is the Hindu goddess of creation and destruction; and I can't remember Inanna but I think that she is middle eastern as well...
