I have old road maps with no copyright dates, is there any way to find out how old they are?

Send a copy to the USGS. Someone there will know or find a retired worker who may.

If you are familiar with the roads in the area represented on the map all you need do is know which roads are NOT on the map and then find out which of those roads is the oldest. That will get you within a couple of years.
