I do not make a habit of voicing my assumptions but I can give you some reason why they might be assuming.
My son dresses like a thug, the baggy pants, the hat on sideways, the big necklace and wants to know why the cops stop him so often.
Well if it looks like a duck and it walks like a duck it most likely is a duck. It is called profiling!
You dress a little different and these people have profiled that to mean gay. Like I told my son if you want to not conform to society that is okay but with all things there are consequences or repercussion from those choices.
Actually I think I would prefer my son have pink hair then look like a thug. LOL

your hair is pink, you wear an earing, you have gay friends, AND,,,, your yahoo ID is sister bear?????? I mean really? Could you be any gayer? If you are so worried about it, change your look. If your comfortable with your look, than it really shouldnt matter what others think of you because you are comfortable with you. You shouldnt have to justify what you are, unless your not really comfortable with your sexuality. So I say, either you are a closet case, or just a straight guy with pink hair. LOL.

You act the way you do and I'll base my opinion on that. You tell me who you are and I'll believe you until it proves not to be true.
But sometimes we can't help to be preoccupied. It is the natural learning principle. If we get routine in doing something it is more or less the same thing. You don't have to look twice, but judge on the situation from the look of it.
It often doesn't give a good result in judging people, because we are all so different. Still, you should be yourself. The people who you care for will know who you are.

Free spirits that don't conform to societies views are often considered to be gay. I know it's not right but that's the way it is.
Example: pink hair/earring

Society in general has not separated youthful fads in dress and appearance from those they think go on in the gay subculture. And not just older people make this mistake either; sometimes ones own peers do the same thing.

Some people simply have mannerisms of the opposite sex, which can confuse the general society.
My husband has the same problem. He has soft features, a high voice, and limp wists, but is not attracted to men in the least.

It's the pink hair and earring that are throwing them off.

I am so sick of you asking this question I am starting to think that you like the fact that people assume that you are gay. Some people think that I'm straight and I'm not...so what. Get over it.

alot of people just have this idea of what a straight guy is like and in their minds that probably doesn't envolve a guy having pink hair so they probably automatically assume you are gay. unfortunately, that's just the way society is

There is this kid in my school with purple hair that I see making out with his girlfriend all the time. Just because your hair is a more... girly color, doesn't mean you're gay.
