Everybody wants to feel as though they have contributed to our culture, there is nothing wrong with that! But why do black people want to start a new trend, word, craze, every two months? Like, they say they Americans don't let them fit in, but insist on having their own way of dress, mannerisms and dialect, WAY different than ALL assimilated, second-generation ethnicities in the U.S., and when someone like Eminem comes along they dislike him (And no, that's not just the way rap is). And the funniest thing by far is, their "white women we rule" thing...lol Even though it is funny, date who you want, but realize two things...firstly, compared to other second-generation ethnicities in America, by percentage of said ethnicities IN America, dating and marrying white women, they're WAY at the bottom of the RULE list...secondly, realize everyone dates. Why so much emphasis on being the "coolest" or "tightest" or whatever word you will make up next week for what you want to people in Ame

Obviously hakeem didn't read my last addition to this post, nor does he realize that the portrayal of blacks in movies is what draws blacks TO these movies, cuz they like the portrayal.

Firstly, I don't really think that "white" Americans really fully accepted "black" Americans as part of them. Some do but not all. Everyone do like to be someone special. And not everyone is the same and we have to try to accept everyone as they are.

Wow, was that a question or a statement?

Firstly, African Americans have contributed far more to America the "Land of the Free" than you may know. For example, George Washington Carver, W.E.B. Dubois, Martin Luther King Jr., Joe Lewis and the list goes on.

Secondly, African Americans have been outsted from society for a very long time. When you put your foot on a person's back and keep them pinned down how do you expect them to grow and beomce these awesome citizens. African Americans have still done awesome in adverse conditions. Look at the media, what sells on televison? Images of Slim Thug, Three 6 Mafia and the most negative influences to a young black man. Why doesn't televison potray kings that ruled over Egypt many years ago, Koffi Annan the former president of the UN. Hmm?

Thirdly, people are attracted to the African American culture because it is rich in spirit. I am not saying that other cultures aren't, but what music has not been inspired by African American roots, Salsa, Blues, Country, Jazz and much more.

My point is you don't really realize how much you are affected by the African culture...
So, don't be so negative about something that you might really enjoy if you learned a little more about it....
Peace...

Hi,

Well first of all you should rephrase your question to "some" black people. You don't know "most" black people nor do I. I am a black woman. I don't follow trends, I speak correct grammar and I can hold my own in any segment of society. Yes I like rap music and I like Eminem because I choose to. Eminen is not only a rapper he has produced and written many things. A closed mind leads to closed responses. I am an individual who happens to belong to the black race. I make my own choices from Frank Sinatra, to Ludacris. I wear RocaWear as well as Timberland. Sweetheart learn to march to your own drummer don't concern yourself so much about what everybody else is doing or saying or wearing. Just be yourself, like what you like and see who you want. If you keep concerning yourself with what everyone is doing or saying, you'll lose your own identity. God Bless Ya!!!!!

As a BLACK person, I do what I want to do. Can we help it if we start dressing a certain way or talking a certain way that people want to do the same? People don't just wake up one morning and say, "Hey, I think I'll start a new trend!" They just do what they want to do and sometimes mindless people follow. Why not question the followers?

I'm not about to read all of your B.S.,but why do you have to start? Why do you have to go there? Why do you have to be raciest? If you don't like something SUCK IT UP AND DEAL WITH IT!I do all the time.I'm sick and tired of all these raciest people, but I deal with it let it go and move on SO GET OVER IT!Like I said to all those other raciest people I'm not even going to bother threatening you two words KARMA *****!

You strike me as someone who is walking through their life with blinders on, a chip on their shoulder, and significantly racist views. I'm sure you have a very tight group of comrades who carry the same bigoted views as you do. Keep hanging out with them. We don't want you in our life.

Yeah, I totally agree. Black people are always degrading themselves, it's not us regarding them as underdogs; they always underestimate themselves. How can you obtain respect from others when you can't manage to respect yourself? I also think that black people feel the need to isolate themselves and establish their own culture since they do, truly, undergo lowly financial circumstances. But anyway, I hate the fact that whenever you see a group of white people forming a union, it's "racism." But when a group of black people are isolating themselves from everyone, it's the "beauty of diversity." Bullshiet!
