The entrance to this monument is from the Shahi Darwaza which is on the east. Below the Shehenai players chamber (Nahabatkhana) are the stables, the treasury, the mint and finally the Diwan-i-Am. Every morning the emperor would appear before his subjects in the garden adjoining the Diwan-i-Am. There is a heresay which says that the emperor who used the slave girls as chess mates while playing chess on a huge chess board in the courtyard of the garden. A few yards away is the Ibadatkhana or the religious assembly hall where Akbar formed his new religion Din-I-Illahi.The Hindu influence was very much in evidence in the architecture of this monument. But the architectures and filigree workmanship of the 2 stone pillars of the Diwan-i-Khas are really excellent. On the northern side of the fort is the Hiran Minar or elephant tower where Akbar's favourite elephant Hiran would trample the prisoners bearing a death sentence to death. Sometimes prisoners would be freed at the mercy of Hiran's whims. So this memorial pillar has been built in memory of Hiran. It was said that the emperor would hunt game from this 21 ft high
