I play this game about twice a week, but the farthest year I've made it to was the 1800s with Russia. What country did you beat the game with (if you have)?

I've beat it few times. I mostly win with a diplomatic victory, the only time I've conquered everyone, I was the Aztecs. I've been shooting for a cultural victory, lately, but no luck so far. My advice is to make sure all the ways you can win are enabled when you start the game. Space race is a good way to win, if you're a scientifc nation. Conquest can be annoying, if you didn't stack the deck (militaristic nation, Pangea, low # of opponents, etc). I have four nations I really like. India, Egypt, Germany and America. Germany has perhaps the best "special unit". Egypt and India are religious, which is great for switching goverment, and America has a good end game unit plus they're industrious and expansionist, so you can grab a lot of land quickly.

That game is impossible on Emperor mode...

I don't remember how many times I've beaten it, but never on that level.
