I think it will. Hopefully, we will get someone in office that will do something about it.

Oh so it is the Republican trick. And then it must be if following that line when the gas tax has been raised in the states that are controlled by Democrats that they will lower the taxes? I don't think so. The gas tax in my state was and will continue to be raised because the Democrats are in control and will stay there because people refuse to vote them out of office!
As far as the gas price raising after the election I highly doubt it.

Not a Republican trick at all. Prices are set by supply and demand. However, prices ARE low right now, since summer vacation travel has ended, and the refineries that were damaged by last year's hurricanes (and tornados in the midwest) are finally back on stream.

Another thing that many people don't realize is that oil producers are starting to use offshore vessels to store and pump oil directly into transport ships instead of to onshore terminals in troubled countries like Nigeria. This largely does away with their worries about strikes and sabotage, and therefore they don't have to raise their prices to cover these contingencies, although they do have to cover the initial cost and the upkeep of these vessels.

Gas prices are artificially manipulated, if you look at at the fundamentals of the oil markets, nothing has really changed since oil and gas prices were at its peak, iraq still a mess, the nuclear stand off with iran still unresolved, Hugo chavez is still the president of venezuela, oil workers are sill being kidnapped in nigeria, so nothing has changed, the administration is friendly to big oil, they come from big oil, and now that things are going so bad politically elsewere, they need a little favor from big oil before the november elections,

Either the GOP-controlled Congress DOES have control over the gas prices (in which case they are responsible for the price-gouging over the past year), or they don't (in which case, they get no credit for the current lower prices). So if they are claiming that they are in any way responsible for the current lower prices, the question becomes, were they screwing us before, or are they lying to us now?

I don't think Congress has that control. But I think oil companies DO have that control, and are using it to try to take the pressure off their GOP buddies. If the GOP maintains a majority in both houses, prices will shoot right back up. If the Democrats take one or both houses, then the oil companies will have to test the waters to see how far they can go before congressional hearings are started.

I believe that it is a huge trick, and when Republicans lose control of the House and Senate in November Bush will jack the price up to $5 a gallon to punish the public. Just watch.

That man is total, pure evil.

*** Also, the person who posted above me is 100% incorrect. Politicians have extreme control over the price of oil via their policy decisions, alliances, and use of national oil reserves. Politics aside, though, the real solution to this problem is to find alternative, viable energy sources.

If people drive more up the price of gas goes. If people stop driving as much it drops. Politicians have no power over gas...6th time I've posted on this today.

Yep; could even hold my breath that long!

Watch em pull strings with big oil if the dems take over a lot of seats. So then we can blame the newly elected democrats. How cool that will be.

Get real .. if the Republicans could control this then why would it have gone up to $3.00 while they were in control .. that would not make them look good. This has everything to do with market speculation. Unfortunately if we ever get a bunch of weak leaders with no backbone, THAT will cause the prices to go up because of the market uncertainty with weak leadership..
