has cimetidine (tagamet) otc been taken off the shelves?

i went looking for it, today, and no one (longs, walgreens, the corner store) had it, or even space for it, on the shelves. i'm interested ONLY in cimetidine. i am not looking for alternate medications.

No - it is still available over the counter. Not sure why it wasn't on the shelves of the stores you looked. Though, some stores may just choose to stock other H2 blockers, such as famotidine (Pepcid) and nizatidine (Axid). If you only want cimetidine, you could find and buy it online, I am sure! Or, talk to the manager at the stores you frequently go to and ask them why they are no longer stocking it - they may stock more at your request.
