Due to an accident and a train, plus it rained for the entire 3 hour trip so I had to drive a little slower. Do you think I won't be considered for the position? I left a voice mail to the woman with whom I was to meet regarding the delay. She said she would call me about rescheduling, but I'm afraid she won't!!!!

Per their HR person, the company really wants me. The position would involve alot of traveling over IN. It would be a sweet job for me.

I would consider it as bad lucky and one cannot help.
Check if the position is filled or not.
If not, call or write to explain the reason.
Hope you got a second chance.

I agree w tuisson...
perhaps this was a job you would have had to move to make the commute manageable...
If it is meant to be you'll get it, otherwise dont fret over it and learn from the experience. Plan your drive well ahead, ask locals about best routes, and be absolutely paranoid about being late.Looking for a job IS a job.
If you have another opportnity at a job interview requiring a long drive, espinunfamilair territory, consider driving in the day before and getting a hotel/motel overnight if you can afford it, arrange to reserve and take a taxi to the interview well ahead of time. You will be fresh and more relaxed and have time to spare. If appropriate, take afriend/spouseand makeit a"get-away".

They probably won't reschedule you. They believe you should have allowed time for emergencys like those that you stated. Lets be serious here for a second. I could see maybe one of those things happening and giving a delay but you state 4 different things (accident, train, rain, slow driving). That's almost unbelieveable. If you can't make it to the interview on time how can they expect you to be on time if you're employed?

To be late during interview is a big NO. The position you wanted may have been given to another applicant present during interview. Unless you possess the best qualification from among the rest, you may be given a second chance. Who knows? You can pay a visit to their office and inquire if said position has been taken or not.

Being late for the interview is not a good way to start out, don't know how much competition there is for this job but if there's a lot you likely won't get a call back unless your credentials are stellar.

except you are the only determination, you have lost it. for even if the reason, being on time is considerable. If there become a automobile accident or something, you're able to desire to have referred to as to tell them. in any different case, they see you as somebody who can not take care of time, and that reflects on your skills to regulate each little thing. A a million/2 hour overdue, I canceled interviews and sent human beings on their way for much less. it quite is not in simple terms y9our time, it quite is their time too. undergo in innovations, they have schedules and could desire to shield organization.

offer to take her for lunch and chat about the job there and be on time and no mcdonalds. peeps like their free lunches even when they are knowingly tryin to be bribed. good food and conversation is always better than sitting at work and having to eat the same old crap. a chance to get away from the office and phone calls is always rewarding

Just think of it as fate. Do you really want to drive 3 hours for work? I hope that the result is favorable for you. Maybe this will lead you to a bigger, better opportunity!

Keep calling her back to reschedule and act like nothing is wrong. It probably would have been helpful to leave earlier for your appointment, but you already know that. Next time, be on time!

Sorry about your ordeal. I'm sure they'll call you, but they should've just adjusted the times instead. Try to call their HR again, maybe you'll find a different person.
